This year Wheely Wonders days are being made possible thanks to our grant from The National Lottery (Awards4All). At each event we have waved our flags to say THANK YOU! So far we’ve had days in April, May and June and have welcomed 28 children with parents and carers – 3 families came for the first time!
We always start by spending time with the animals – the donkeys were very pleased to see everyone and the goats couldn’t wait to nibble their branches. Rosie and Bedroom Slippers the chickens were very popular and the children and adults were very happy to be able to carry them both!
At Woodland Wonders Forest School with Jen and Sam, children sawed wood to create brilliant Easter chicks and used sticks and wool for bunnies. They made elder wood dolls and bubble wands. There’s always time to lie in the hammock or nest swing and look under logs for creepy-crawlies! Over at the fire circle before lunch, families always enjoy fire lighting and the all-important toasted marshmallows!
Lizzie’s Craft Club was buzzing with colour and creativity in April, decorating Easter baskets and egg decorations. Plain flowerpots were turned colourful using magazine pictures and stickers in May, and in June there was a very calm atmosphere while the children created their own pictures using stickers, pencils and pens before decorating their frames. An array of suncatchers were coloured in and everyone was so proud of their work!
Stomp rockets whizzed through the sky, big bubbles floated away and bells were ringing with Chris North. We all love the magic shows where children assist with tricks and we have had fun with some parachute games – children invented new ideas and created a magical story with all the balls “raining” at the end.
A massive THANK YOU to everyone who volunteered for the days and to all families for coming. We are looking forward to seeing more families through the rest of the year! Please get in touch if you would like to be added to the list.
